Hippocrates said, “Let thy food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” It is a lovely quote, but it makes us wonder if Hippocrates ever dealt with severe garlic breath. Garlic is one of the most beneficial foods to eat. It has a long list of admirable qualities and is a favorite ingredient of chefs around the world.
In order to glean all of garlic’s wonderful benefits, you have to eat an awful lot of it – and in raw form. This inevitably results in horrible garlic breath. There is a better way to go about claiming the benefits of garlic that do not result in bad breath. Garlic supplements are an easy way to enjoy the benefits without garlic breath.
We have looked high and low to find a supplement that successfully captures the benefits of garlic. One of the compounds in garlic, called allicin, is the result of a chemical reaction that happens in the garlic is chopped, crushed, chewed. It is a fragile compound that requires considerable care to preserve. Most of the garlic supplements on the market are not able to preserve allicin in processing.
Some of the benefits that allicin and garlic offer the body are:
- Antibacterial properties to help you fight off colds and flus.
- Antifungal benefits to help keep fungal infections at bay.
- Mucus clearing to help control and prevent congestion.
- Lowers blood pressure by promoting healthy circulation and regular heartbeat.
- Impairs tumor growth to help fight off cancerous and benign tumors.
- Supports immune system by detoxing and fortifying the body – especially when combined with vitamin C.
My favorite garlic supplement is Allicin-C, which is processed in such a way that the allicin’s beneficial qualities are preserved. It is also enhanced with the powerful antioxidant vitamin C so that it works double time to promote a healthy immune system. Best of all, one dose of Allicin-C contains the same beneficial qualities as about 30 cloves of garlic – all without garlic breath. Perhaps if Hippocrates had tried Allicin-C he would have felt differently about what is food and what is natural medicine (hehehe)!
